Play the Slots!

On holiday last year we managed to find an 'old penny' arcade!  We all had a lot of fun even though the slot machines were the kind that I played when I was a lot younger and not at all the kind of slot machines that they play now!!!!

 

This layout is for the challenge at Scrap Our Stash......

 

....I used arrows, blue and chipboard. The scalloped edge at the bottom is chipboard (as are the arrows) and they were all inked silver although they came out different colors as they were not all the same chipboard!! Also included some of the old pennies that I didn't put in the machines!!!  Had to save some for scrapping!! LOL

Rainbow Cake

Alex loves to bake....when Sharon heard of a competition to bake a cake/cakes at a bakery in Leigh, he had to have a go!!  He chose to make a Rainbow Cake.....each layer a different colour and it came out super!!  So much so that he won!!  Two tickets for Adventure Island in Southend...he was as pleased as punch!!

I used the sketch (Jan 15) at ScrapMuch?.....but as usual my photos weren't quite the same sizes so took up more of the page than the sketch...but apart from that I didn't do too bad!! LOL!!!

Senior School

Alex started at Eastwood Academy in September.....walking on his own!!  I think Sharon would have followed if she could!! He has to cross the A127, but there is a footbridge, and he is the sensible one of the three grandchildren so really we knew he would be ok!

 

I incorporated three challenges in this layout.....I would normally find that difficult but it just seemed to come together!

I started with the sketch (Jan 8) at Scrap Much?....

 

The challenge at Scrap Our Stash - 34 is to be inspired by.....

 

.....I love Dr Seuss and chose to use some of the sayings from his books which I thought were appropriate.

And last but not least the monthly challenge theme at Lasting Memories is New Beginnings and 17th  Jan week is New Life Event and this certainly was for Alex!!

Snow!

This photo is of Alexander with his first 'girlfriend' Rebecca taken in 2012 when he was 8 and we had some snow!!!  We seem to have avoided the the 'white stuff' so far but we have been known to have snow in April so I won't put my boots away yet!!!

 

I am joining in with the challenge at Creative Embellishments where there is a picture to be inspired by and to use at least one element and the extra criteria is something round.....

....I was inspired by the snow and my round element are the doilies either side of the photo.

Birthday Card

When I finish a layout I am going to try (!) to use the odd bits left over to make a card!! Hopefully this will help me not keep loads of bits (just in case!) and also stock my card box!! This is the first one.....I used the papers left from my 'Ice cream' layout.

I am also entering the challenge at the Craft Barn.  The challenge is an Alpha/Dictionary challenge and this week the letter is 'B'. You have to pick something beginning with the week's letter, cut the definition from a dictionary and incorporate it in your project!!

I chose B - Birthday!! This seemed easy this week.....will I be able to continue as it gets harder???? LOL  Looking at the 'B's' that others have used I think I chickened out!!
